Migration & Optimization of DataIntegration from Webservices to SAP Cloud Integration in BW/4HANA

Background

The existing data integration landscape relied on Web services to push the data into SAP BW (PSA layer), followed by subsequent data loads into downstream targets. This architecture supported multiple inbound interfaces and reporting requirements.
As part of the BW/4HANA transformation initiative, the objective was to modernize the data ingestion mechanism, improve performance, and align with SAP’s recommended architecture.

Objective

Replace legacy web service-based data loads with SAP Cloud-based integration.
Enable direct data ingestion into BW/4HANA using modern interfaces.
Ensure seamless continuity for downstream reporting and applications.
Optimize existing transformations and query performance.

Scope of Work

Migration of interfaces from web services to SAP Cloud integration.
Redesign of data flow from PSA-based loading to ADSO-based loading.
Validation, testing, and optimization of data pipelines.
Enhancement of reporting logic and performance tuning.

Solution Design

Data Integration Architecture Changes:
Before: Source->Web Service->PSA->BW Targets
After: Source->SAP CI-DS->Write Interface enabled ADSO->BW Targets
Implemented Write Interface Enabled ADSOs for direct data ingestion. Eliminated dependency on PSA layer for improved performance and simplified architecture.

Business Benefits

The migrationfrom web service-based data ingestion to SAP Cloud integration with writeinterface enabled ADSOs significantly improved system performance, simplifiedarchitecture, and aligned the landscape with modern SAP BW/4HANA standards. Theoptimization efforts, including optimized lookups, AMDP implementation, furtherenhanced reporting efficiency and scalability.
